Richard Painted

And here's the finished Richard! I think it's one of my new favorite pieces, I had such a great time playing with skin tones, figuring out the fur and just messing with edges. After such a complicated piece like Legolas, it was very relaxing to just do a simple-ish portrait. Richard's wonderful, weird creations can be found at http://historically-inaccurate.blogspot.com/. This piece will be part of Richard's massive show at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont from May 17-October 29 of this year. So if you are in Vermont- stop by and tell me how it is! Last I checked, about 25 other artists are going to be displaying their own hybrid portraits in addition to Richard's own lovely creations, so it is definately worth the trip. Also- It has a 220-foot steamboat in its yard.

  2. That's my favorite of yours. Your flesh tones are really coming to life Kristina. The concept is fun. I dig his fur and the cat nose. I'm not crazy about the thick fur on the bridge of the nose but that's getting nit-picky. Beautiful work! Can't wait to see more:)

  3. Wonderful work Kristina! For such a quiet subject matter, your painting techniques bring a lot of life.

  4. Ray- I have to agree with you on the nose thing- something had been bothering about it and after your comment I toned down some of the hair on the bridge and I like it much better. I reposted the new edited image with a detail.

Now it's too bad I didn't have time to do that too the original! Ah, well. Art is never finished, only abandoned right?

  6. His hands are especially beautiful. As well as the folds in his shirt.

    How fun!

  7. I wish my cat had crazy whiskers like that! Great painting, and I like the updated version with the nose a little more visible. I'm especially impressed with the greens in the skin tones, they really work and add that old-skin thinness kind of effect. :)
